Brow Lift in Lexington, KY
The first signs of aging commonly show on the forehead. They appear because of normal factors such as sun exposure and the pull of gravity. These changes in appearance leave people constantly looking tired and angry. Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. William L. Dowden offers a solution by giving the residents of Lexington, Georgetown and the surrounding area of Kentucky a chance to refresh their look by opening their eyes with a brow lift.
What is a Brow Lift?
A brow lift, or forehead lift, corrects sagging in the skin of the forehead, upper eyelids, and eyebrows.
A brow lift is usually done with blepharoplasty, a full facelift, or a nose job (rhinoplasty). The preferred method is an endoscopic brow lift, which is a minimally invasive procedure performed through remote incisions. We thread a fiber optic video camera into the eyebrow, along with a small scope that performs the incisions on the interior of the brow.
Benefits of a Brow Lift
- Look more relaxed – removing or improving the horizontal lines and furrows on your forehead will make you look less tired, less worried, or less angry.
- Look younger – eliminating a sagging forehead can greatly contribute to a younger appearance and make you look years younger than you are or feel.
- Huge boost in self-esteem and self-confidence – feel better about how you look.
What Will a Brow Lift Accomplish?
A brow lift will tighten the area between the top eyelid and lower brow. This will result in wrinkles being diminished and the area around the eye looking several years younger. On its own, a brow lift may make the area seem plastic or fake, which is why it is almost always used with an eyelid surgery.
What Are the Side Effects of a Brow Lift?
A brow lift is relatively painless but may result in swelling and bruising in the surgical zone and at the incision point. Tightness might be felt around the upper eyelid area and temple for the first few days after the surgery as well. There also might be itching and irritation from the local anesthetic.
How Long Does a Brow Lift take?
The actual length of time a brow lift takes depends on the number of tucks made in the brow itself. Minor procedures can take as little as 15 minutes while more extensive ones can last up to an hour and a half. There are no lingering effects, and you may return to your daily activities as soon as the procedure is complete.
Can A Brow Lift Be Incorporated Into Another Procedure?
Yes. Brow lifts are actually usually part of a package of procedures designed to rejuvenate the face area. They are often combined with eyelid procedures, full facial and neck lifts or rhinoplasty.
Am I a Good Candidate for a Brow Lift?
- Your sagging eyebrows produce a tired or sad look.
- Furrows between your eyebrows.
- Frown lines.
- Creases in the forehead.
- No smoking/good overall health.
